It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
